Chimney Busy Season Image - Prince Frederick MD - Chesapeake ChimneyFall is fast-approaching and with it comes cool days, and evenings that dip into freezing temperatures rather quickly, especially in Southern Maryland. This is the chimney industry’s busy season. Through the spring and summer the chimney industry experiences a lull in business–what we call the off season. During the off season is the best time to schedule routine maintenance.

Forward Scheduling and Maximizing Off Season Appointments

The best preventative measure you make take for you chimney’s safety and efficiency is keeping up with routine maintenance. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) recommend regular chimney sweeps and annual chimney inspections to be completed by a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep® (CCS).

It’s important to schedule ahead, and avoid the busy season so that you can hire the best professionals to take care of your chimney maintenance. If you wait and run into the busy season you may be tempted to cut corners and hire someone who is less experienced, non certified, and uninsured to do the work. This is not recommended.

Our Busy Season

The chimney industry experiences this busy season called the fall rush every year that begins in the fall and extends through the winter. It’s best to schedule routine maintenance during the off season to allow time to make needed repairs before the fall rush.

At Chesapeake Chimney and Company you can expect our lines to be long between September and January. This doesn’t mean we cannot complete your services, but it does make it more difficult to get the appointment times you’d prefer. It can also mean days without using your fireplace until a certified chimney sweep can make needed repairs to the chimney system.

Because we put our customer’s safety and comfort first, we make ourselves available for emergency calls. These calls are frequent during our busy season, especially in the fall. At this time fireplaces and furnaces are being fired up for the first time after a long summer and there are many things that can go wrong. To avoid calling emergency assistance this fall and winter keep in mind:
