My wood stove won't seal — is that a problem?

It can be. A bad seal hurts your draft and your heat, and lets smoke escape where it shouldn't. New gaskets and a door adjustment usually set it right.

Do you service pellet stoves too?

Yes — pellet stoves and inserts have their own page, but we service both. We work on every brand of wood and pellet appliance.

How often should a wood stove and its chimney be cleaned?

At least once a year for most households, and more often if you burn heavily through the winter. Regular sweeping clears the creosote that builds up in the flue and keeps your stove drawing the way it should.

Why does my wood stove smoke back into the room?

Usually it's a draft problem — a blocked or undersized flue, a cold chimney, or a stove that isn't sealing. We look at the whole system, not just the stove, and track down what's actually causing it.
